As I continue with this site, I grow more and more attached to it. It's awesome. I know it has its problems (which will be fixed eventually), and I haven't even looked at the chat issues yet. That's probably going to be fixed with a change of the theme (which really won't be all that different), and a new plugin (no more of that Facebook-chat, unfortunately).

Anyway, you may have noticed I've posted like 3 whole times in the past few days, and now a 4th, right here! You may have also noticed these posts are relatively small. There's a reason for this!

I'm taking Koholint in a different direction. I don't care about establishing myself as a writer. That shit is boring, anyway. I do care about having a place to discuss cool shit with friends, however. So that's what I'm going for now. I will continue to post fairly often, but I'm going to open up the front page to more people. If you see something in the news (gaming, scifi, movies, TV, or whatever) that looks really cool, you can write a little post about it in the blog section, and I'll probably promote it to the front page (I won't post things that suck). Try to keep your grammar in check, however, for all our sakes. Anyone who does this consistently enough will be made an author, allowing them to post their stuff immediately to the front page (with pictures!). But do try to space out your posts, and keep a discerning eye for stuff that may just be dumb.

So, nothing ostensibly is changing, but I am now going to post more frequently, with fewer words and fewer images, just whenever I see something I'd want my friends to know about. I invite you to do the same, but feel free to... not... do that.

There's probably going to be another post or two today, since there's a lot of news.

I'm actively trying to recruit people who might be interested in becoming a regular user at this site. If you are one of those people, reading this message, I salute you. Having received a message from me means that I love you, and that you haven't already come here.

Now, to those of you who have already shown interest in coming here on a regular basis: tell your friends!! The more people who know about this place, the better. And, don't be afraid to post new forum topics! The more there is to talk about, the more people will be able to say, the longer they'll stick around. Don't idle, waiting for people to talk, when you can talk! It may not be your typical approach to community sites, but it's a necessary step in building this one up to a level of activity where we can do whatever we want, and have interesting things to do all the time.

So, as for the progression of the site... I've added the ability to post blog entries for approved users. Use this however the hell you want, it's really just there as fluff. You'll be able to link people directly to a page of your own entries, once I configure a certain module, and you'll also have the opportunity to have your posts be posted on the front page. Or, whatever. It's just there for fun. You could even write fanfic ;D

Soon, the forum's awesomeness will increase a bit when I add the "unread replies" link at the top of the page, which also depends on me configuring that module. That module will also help me make a member list and user pages with your blog entries, so that's something I'm going to work on very soon. Then, I'll start to work towards making the front page's appearance look exactly the way it should, showing categories, tags, author names, post type, post date, and all that fun jazz. Things will only get better as time goes on, so look forward to that. I'm even planning to have a webcomic here at some point in the future.
