So yeah... Oda still surprises me with every single chapter. This arc so far has been unbelievable, hands down best arc in a couple of years.
I think Ace will take Whitebeard's place after the war, atleast that would be the most obvious choice for me... but this is Oda we're talking about. I wouldn't be surprised if Ace died : D
I have been under the assumption that ace would pick up his old crew and become yet another contender for the pirate king. Possibly taking oars JR. with him.

I think Ace dying is the only thing that could possibly happen to Ace at this point. Otherwise, he becomes yet another competitive, or too strong an ally to Luffy becoming Pirate King.

We got another nod to Dadan, which makes me wonder even more who it could be. I don't believe there's any indication as to what the character's gender may be, though the scanlation I read said "he."
Ace's death was a bit of a surprise, but still quite understandable. I'm looking back to other characters like Shanks and Garp now, thinking they might not be so immortal, either.
I always thought Dadan was a girl but yeah it was mentioned in the scan that (s)he's a he. I'm thinking that (s)he's a foster dad or something since Garp was being a marine and stuff. He can't be there running home. So even more of a reason to think Dadan would be a woman.. but you never know.. Maybe another big brother? :P

He did have a kid recently, so I kind of understand wanting to take a long break. The fact he's waited to take the break until there's a climax in the story is pretty awesome of him.
I also wouldn't be surprised if our next chapter was time skipped, including a recap of what happens after Blackbeard appears.
Though, I guess that would be a bit out of character for Oda.

I've gotten alot of mixed answers on whether or not there's going to be a chapter this week. I've seen more people saying there is going to be a chapter than not. Anyone got some sweet sweet conformation?
It's kind of hard to tell, because I don't know when the RAWs are posted.

That indicates that the next issue with One Piece will go on sale March 8, which is next week. However, this might be referring to online availability, or newstand availability. Perhaps subscribers get it earlier, and that's why we usually see One Piece on Wednesday or Thursday. If so, it stands to reason that we will have a chapter this week. Otherwise, next week.
I'm hearing now from multiple sources that there will in fact be a chapter this week.

I'll throw down some spoiler tags for just this post, but you don't have to in any replies to this.
So basically, we have a few questions answered now. Blackbeard wanted to be shichibukai so he could recruit those dudes.
Whitebeard never went for the title of Pirate King because he already had what he wanted.
Somehow the will of D has been passed down from the past, which we've known, and it doesn't imply genetic relationship, which we've also known. But it does have something to do with what's on Raftel.
But why does Blackbeard have a D?
Holy hell, this Whitebeard War has been going on for quite some time.
It's been pretty clear for a while that he would sacrifice himself for the good of his crew, but what do you think Ace will do after this?
If we're to believe that a time skip is about to happen, then maybe the Strawhats will never be the same again? I mean, can't Luffy take on a larger crew at this point? He's certainly proven himself to enough people. Perhaps Ace would take on his own crew as well?
